RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE ARKANSAS STATE POLICE AND ACCEPT THE 2015 STEP GRANT

Whereas, the City of Jonesboro was awarded the FY 2015 STEP Grant in the amount of $82,500 federal funds and $10,000 state funds, and
Whereas, the City of Jonesboro will match the $92,500 with $72,500 in local funds already appropriated in the budget for officer salaries; and
Whereas, the City of Jonesboro will accept all accounting and reporting responsibilities for said grant, and
Whereas, the City of Jonesboro will use said funds for overtime for seat belt enforcement, DWI/DUI enforcement, speed enforcement, and distracted driving enforcement; as well as, the $10,000 will be utilized for car seats.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro will enter into agreement with the Arkansas State Police to accept the 2015 STEP Grant in the amount of $165,000, and
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this application.
