A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO AUTHORIZE THE GRANTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR THE FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION (FTA), FY24 BUSES AND BUS FACILITIES COMPETITIVE GRANT FOR THE JONESBORO ECONOMICAL TRANSPORTATION (JET)

WHEREAS, FTA is accepting applications for the FY24 Buses and Bus Facilities competitive grant; and,
WHEREAS, JET requests $1,199,488 in federal funding with a local match of up to 20% or $299,872 for the construction of a maintenance facility and purchase of related equipment; and,
WHEREAS, Local formula grant funding by FTA will cover a majority of funding related to the local match; and
WHEREAS, JET needs a maintenance facility that is adequate in size to conduct its own routine maintenance, allow for future growth in assets and services, and to increase storage space.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The Jonesboro City Council supports an application submission to FTA for the FY24 Buses and Bus Facilities competitive grant.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the grant application.
SECTION 3: The Grants and Community Development Department is hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to submit all necessary documents for this federal-aid program.
SECTION 4: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts regarding any future award of the FY24 Buses and Bus Facilities competitive grant.
