A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, TO AMEND THE 2021 BUDGET TO ADD THREE ADDITIONAL FIREFIGHTER POSITIONS

WHEREAS, RES-20:244 adopted the 2021 budget for City of Jonesboro; and,
WHEREAS, it is recommended by the Finance Committee, to ensure sufficient staffing of fire personnel for minimum staffing for operation of fire engines and to increase operator safety, that three new firefighter positions be approved; and,
WHEREAS, a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant (SAFER) has been requested for FY2022, FY2023, and FY2024 to potentially offset future department staffing costs;
WHEREAS, the 2021 budget for the Fire Department will need to be amended $80,000, including salary and benefits for the remainder of 2021;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: The City 2021 Budget for the Fire Department is amended $80,000, including salary and benefits to add three additional firefighter positions for the remainder of 2021.
