A RESOLUTION FOR ENACTING A TEMPORARY HONORARY DESIGNATION OF A PORTION OF CERTAIN CITY STREETS IN HONOR OF MAYOR HAROLD PERRIN, COUNCILMAN GENE VANCE, AND CITY CLERK DONNA JACKSON

WHEREAS, Mayor Harold Perrin, Councilman Gene Vance, and City Clerk Donna Jackson have served the City of Jonesboro with honor, integrity, and dedication, and will be ending their service as a city official at the end of 2020; and,
WHEREAS, Harold Perrin served as a member of the City Council from 1993 to 1996 and 1999 to 2008, and Mayor from 2009 to 2020; and,
WHEREAS, Gene Vance served as a member of the City Council from 1993 to 1996, and from 2009 to 2020; and,
WHEREAS, Donna Jackson served as City Clerk from 1991 to 2020; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council and citizens of Jonesboro want to express their appreciation and recognize them for their outstanding service to the city.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS that:
Section 1: For the period of January 1, 2021 to June 30, 2021, streets indicated herein shall temporarily be named in honor of these three officials with an street sign place at the Main Street intersection. This will not alter the current street naming for official purposes.
Section 2: Huntington Avenue will have an honorary designation as “Mayor Harold Perrin Avenue”.
Section 3: Washington Avenue will have an honorary designation as “Councilman Gene Vance Avenue”.
Section 4: Matthews Avenue will have an honorary designation as “City Clerk Donna Jackson Avenue”.
