A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION AND THE ARKANSAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION DESIGNATE THE REMAINING SECTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 63 MEETING INTERSTATE STANDARDS AS INTERSTATE 555.

WHEREAS, the section of U.S. Highway 63 from the City of Jonesboro’s southeastern border to its intersection with U.S. Highway 49 (Southwest Drive), is designated as Interstate 555; and,
WHEREAS, the section of U.S. Highway 63 from U.S. Highway 49 (Southwest Drive) to Arkansas Highway 91 (Dan Avenue), meets the standards of an interstate highway; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is requesting that the Arkansas State Highway Commission and the Arkansas Department of Transportation designate the section of U.S. Highway 63 from U.S. Highway 49 to Arkansas Highway 91 as a section of Interstate 555.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
Section 1: The Arkansas State Highway Commission and the Arkansas Department of Transportation be requested by this resolution to designate the section of U.S. Highway 63 from U.S. Highway 49 to Arkansas Highway 91 as a section of Interstate 555.
Section 2. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this request.
