RESOLUTION APPROVING PERMISSION FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO APPLY FOR  THE FY 2020  BUILDING RESILIENT INFRASTRUCTURE AND COMMUNITIES (BRIC) GRANT THROUGH THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY TO CONTROL FLOODING OF THE LITTLE BAY DITCH AREA.

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has been permitted by the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to apply for up to $10 million from the FY 2020 Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant from the Federal Emergency Management  Agency (FEMA); and

 

WHEREAS, the FY 2020 BRIC grant will be 75% federally funded and a 25% local match required; and

 

WHEREAS, the 25% local match would be from the 2021 budget and be shared with Craighead County and other cities in the county; and

 

WHEREAS, the funds will be used to address the flooding of the City of Jonesboro and Craighead County in accordance with the Craighead County Hazard Mitigation Plan.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:

Section 1: The City of Jonesboro supports the submission of the application for the BRIC grant.

 
Section 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this application.
