A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO ENTER INTO A JOINT FUNDING AGREEMENT WITH THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR FOR THE INSTALLATION, OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF TWO STREAMGAUGES IN JONESBORO (NOTE: THIS AGREEMENT WAS CONTINUED WITH RES-12:218 ON JANUARY 22, 2013)

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has desires to enter into a Joint Funding Agreement (attached) with the U.S. Geological Survey, United States Department of the Interior for the installation, operation, and maintenance of two streamgauges in Jonesboro;

WHEREAS, the two streamgauge monitoring locations in Jonesboro are to be located on Lost Creek and Whiteman Creek at Access Road;

WHEREAS, the funding for equipment and installation cost will come from Capital Improvements. The funding for operation and maintenance cost will come from the Engineering Department’s Professional Services account;

WHEREAS, the annual operation and maintenance of $25,050.00 will come from the Engineering Department’s Professional Services account until the agreement is terminated by either party.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

Section 1. That the City of Jonesboro shall enter into a Joint Funding Agreement with the U.S. Geological Survey, United States Department of the Interior for the installation, operation, and maintenance of two streamgauges in Jonesboro for a cost of $10,270.00 in 2009 and $25,050.00 per year thereafter.

Section 2. The funding for equipment and install cost will come from Capital Improvements. The funding for operation and management cost will come from the Engineering Department’s Professional Services account.

Section 3. The funding for the annual operation and maintenance will come from the Engineering Department’s Professional Services account until the agreement is terminated by either party.
