A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO APPLY FOR A HAZARD MITIGATION ASSISTANCE (HMA) GRANT

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro meets the eligibility requirements necessary to apply for a grant under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has identified four (4) qualifying Repetitive Loss structures based on insurance claims through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP); and

 

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Jonesboro to apply for Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Grant through the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to mitigate the four (4) qualifying structures; and

 

WHEREAS, the local cost share would be $95,612.50 and the grant cost share would be $286,837.50 for a total of $382,450.00 for mitigation, which is a 75/25 matching grant.  The administrative cost up to 5% is 100% reimbursable through the grant.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

 

Section 1:  The Jonesboro City Council supports the submission of the Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Grant for mitigation of four (4) Repetitive Loss structures.

 

Section 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the Federal Hazard Mitigation Grant State - City of Jonesboro Agreement.

 

Section 3: The Jonesboro City Council pledges its full support and hereby authorizes the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management to initiate action to implement this Subgrant Project Application.

 

Section 4:  Funding for the $95,612.50 local cost share would be funded in the 2021 and 2022 Budgets, as appropriate.
