A RESOLUTION FOR THE RENAMING OF MIRACLE LEAGUE PARK IN HONOR OF MAYOR HAROLD PERRIN

WHEREAS, Resolution 05:402 adopted guidelines for naming public parks, streets and facilities within the City of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, Harold Perrin has faithfully served the City of Jonesboro and the State of Arkansas with vision and passion for over three decades, providing effective leadership as Mayor for twelve years, City Councilman for fifteen years, Trustee of Arkansas State University, President of the Arkansas Municipal League, and a member of the boards of several local, state, and national organizations; and
WHEREAS, prior to becoming Mayor, Harold Perrin was a successful president of two major banks and principal of his own management-consulting firm; and
WHEREAS, Harold Perrin has led Jonesboro to be mentioned among premier places to live, work, retire and raise a family in rankings not only regionally but statewide and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Harold Perrin was instrumental in the development of Miracle League Park, the nation’s largest rubberized entertainment park for children with disabilities with 28 handicapped accessible pieces of playground equipment and a field capable of being used for baseball, soccer, basketball, flag football and other sports for children with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, with the greatest admiration and affection, that we, the citizens of the city of Jonesboro, would like to properly honor and recognize the achievements and dedication of a leader that has made a difference in our lives and to express the city’s eternal gratitude for his extraordinary public service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Jonesboro City Council, of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:
Section 1: The Miracle League Park be renamed as “Harold Perrin Miracle League Park”.
Section 2: Appropriate signage will be placed in the park to commemorate this honor.
