A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO EXPRESS A DESIRE TO KEEP UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICES IN THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT.

WHEREAS, The downtown business district is a thriving part of our overall business community and has grown tremendously over the past few years.
WHEREAS, The businesses that comprise a great percentage of the downtown district include district, state and federal courts; law offices; local, state and federal government offices; financial institutions and other such businesses that handle large volumes of mail and the need for certified or special mail services.
WHEREAS, The presence of a post office is vital to these businesses and to future economic development in this area of our city.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: That the City of Jonesboro expresses its desire that the United States Post Office continue to maintain a full service presence within the downtown Jonesboro business district for these and other purposes, and encourages the United States Postmaster General and other interested officials to consider this request with due diligence and careful consideration.
