A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO AMEND THE 2020 ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE CODE ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, Resolution 15:057 condemned the property located on 700 Cate Street, Jonesboro, Arkansas; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro desires to demolish the structure after negotiations with the property owner to demolish the property were not successful; and,

 

WHEREAS, the 2019 Code Enforcement Department Budget through Resolution 19:165 was  increased in the amount of $125,000 in order to include the cost of demolition; and,

 

WHEREAS, in December of 2019, the asbestos work was completed and $51,336.50 was paid to the contractor.  Due to scheduling conflicts with the contractor, demolition was unable to be scheduled until March 2020; and,

 

WHEREAS, the 2020 Code Enforcement Budget through Resolution 19:201 will need to be increased for the remaining $73,500.00 for the building demolition; and,

 

WHEREAS, a lien will be filed upon completion of the demolition.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, THAT:

 

Section 1: The sum of $73,500.00 will be added to the Code Enforcement Department’s 2020 budget, said sum shall come from the unappropriated funds in the General Fund.
