RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE FY19 BUILD GRANT FOR THE SOUTH CARAWAY ROAD WIDENING EXPANSION PROJECT

WHEREAS, the application process is now open and is accepting proposals for the U.S. Department of Transportation FY19 BUILD grant; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has proposed to widen South Caraway Road from Parker Road to Fox Meadow Lane;
WHEREAS, the FY19 BUILD grant will provide up to 80% of federal aid in the overall construction of the project through the Department of Transportation and requires a 20% local match from the City; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is requesting funds for $7,416,000 in our application to the Department of Transportation for the engineering, right of way, utilities relocated and construction of said project with the local match being $1,483,200.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: The Jonesboro City Council supports the submission of the FY19 BUILD application to the Department of Transportation for the widening of South Caraway Road expansion project; and
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the application; and
SECTION 3: The Grants and Community Development Department is hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to submit all necessary documents for this federal-aid program.
