AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF A NEW 18 YARD REAR LOAD TRUCK FOR THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT

SECTION ONE:  The Sanitation Department of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas needs to purchase a new 18-yard rear load truck year 2020.  To replace a 2007- Sterling 20 -yard rear load truck VIN # 2FZAASDC97AY56304

SECTION TWO:  The equipment may be purchased from Rivercity Hydraulics of Little Rock, AR at a discount price of $168,273.56.  The monies for this purchase shall be transferred from the general fund reserves to the fund for sanitation residential fixed assets.

SECTION THREE:  That the City Council in accordance with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-302 hereby waive the requirement of competitive bidding and direct the purchasing agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in section 2 above

SECTION FOUR:  It is further found that due to immediate need to acquire this equipment to replace existing equipment for trash collection, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, it shall take effect from and after passage and approval.
