AN ORDINANCE TO CONTRACT WITH THE ROTARY CLUBS OF JONESBORO TO CONSTRUCT A PLAYGROUND AT CRAIGHEAD FOREST PARK AND TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE PLAYGROUND (NOTE: THIS CONTRACT WAS REPLACED BY RES-09:207 ON JANUARY 5, 2010; RES-10:183 ON DECEMBER 21, 2010; RES-11:219 ON JANUARY 17, 2012; RES-12:227 ON JANUARY 22, 2013)

WHEREAS, the Rotary Clubs of Jonesboro are Arkansas not for profit 501 (c) 3 organizations formed to provide service to others, to promote high ethical standards, and to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders; and
WHEREAS, the City owns and maintains Craighead Forest Park and is encouraging collaboration in facility development; and
WHEREAS, the Rotary Clubs of Jonesboro and the City desire to enter this agreement for the purpose of constructing a fort-themed playground and playground amenities at Craighead Forest Park Access #6; and
WHEREAS, the Rotary Clubs of Jonesboro have agreed to provide $240,000 to be paid in full by December 31st, 2009; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro will provide $112,105.00 to be paid from the following funds:
a. $84,612.00 from Parks and Tourism Grant (09-000-0632-00)
b. $4,398.06 from Rotary Park 2005 (07-000-0500-21)
c. $798.06 from 2005 State Funds for CFP (07-000-0500-21)
d. $22,297.34 from Craighead Forest Walking Trail (05-000-0500-11)
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro shall appropriate $240,000 from the general improvement fund to secure playground equipment and installation at 2008 prices. Eighty thousand dollars of said money to be reimbursed to the City no later than December 31st, 2008 and $160,000 of said money to be reimbursed by December 31st, 2009.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
