AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO AMEND THE 2018 JET FUND BUDGET IN ORDER TO CREATE FOUR FULL TIME TRANSIT DRIVER POSITIONS IN THE JET DEPARTMENT AND FOR THE ADOPTION OF AN EMERGENCY CLAUSE FOR THE EFFICIENT OPERATION OF CITY GOVERNMENT

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro passed the 2018 Budget in Ordinance 17:087, which will need to be amended in order to effectuate said change in the JET Fund Budget for the addition of a four full time Transit Driver positions in the JET Department; and

WHEREAS, budgeted expenditure increases will consist of the following:

13-167-0201-00 Salaries $ 113,448.04
13-167-0203-00 Group Insurance $ 26,420.88
13-167-0204-00 Pension - City's Contribution $ 7,361.52

WHEREAS, budgeted expenditure decreases will consist of the following:

13-167-0210-00 Part-Time Salaries $ 65,000.00

WHEREAS, the hourly rate for the four positions will be equivalent to a grade 108, Step 1 within the current salary plan; and

WHEREAS, any funding required in addition to the amount transferred from the Part-Time salaries line item will come from General Fund reserve balances.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro that:

SECTION 1. The 2017 JET Fund Budget is hereby amended to provide for the addition of four full time Transit Driver positions in the JET Department.

SECTION 2. Whereas, it is necessary for the efficient operation of the city JET system, now therefore an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.
