AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE SOLE SOURCE FROM RITTER COMMUNICATIONS FOR CLOUD STORAGE, VEEAM BACKUP AND DISASTER RECOVERY SERVICES

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro currently uses Ritter Communications for Internet and phone services, and,
WHEREAS, Ritter is a sole source to provide a cloud services that does not have to go through the internet making it very secure compared to others; and,
WHEREAS, Animal Control cloud storage is being provided by Ritter Communications; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is in need of purchasing new server for the phone system due to the current one being end of life; and,
WHEREAS, the City will save the cost of purchasing a server by entering into an agreement with Ritter Communications; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro will save $3,572.19 monthly by allowing Ritter to perform said services as outlined in RES:17-114.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO THAT:
Section 1: An exceptional situation exists requiring the waiving of the conditions of competitive bidding, so that competitive bidding requirements are hereby waived, and an agreement will be entered into with Ritter Communications.
