A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS ACTING ON BEHALF OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE FOR THE INSTALLATION OF BIKE RACKS THROUGHOUT THE CITY

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro was awarded the 2014-2016 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Center for Disease Control and Prevention sub-grant in the amount of $11,000 of federal funds; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro will accept all conditions and reporting responsibilities as outlined in the said agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro will use said funds for the purchase of 34 bicycle racks to be placed throughout the city to encourage healthier activities for the residents of Jonesboro, and
WHEREAS, this grant requires immediate approval, in order to receive funding for the grant period beginning July 1, 2017 through September 1, 2017.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro will enter into agreement with the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas for the 2014-2016 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Center for Disease Control and Prevention sub-grant in the amount of $11,000 for bike racks.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.
