AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO AMEND THE 2017 GENERAL FUND TO ADD $127,686 TO UPGRADE ALL 2016 OFFICE STANDARD LICENSE TO PROFESSIONAL LICENSE

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro passed the 2017 Budget in Ordinance 16:085, which will need to be amended in order to effectuate said increase in the General Fund Budget to upgrade all 2016 Microsoft office license to Microsoft Professional, the budgeted amount for Information Systems line item 01-110-0296-00 will increase by $127,686; and

 

WHEREAS, the current Information Technology Director had a company perform an audit of the City’s Microsoft license to ensure compliance; and

 

WHEREAS, the audit discovered the City of Jonesboro acquired an insufficient number of 2007 Microsoft Office Professional in 2008 and installed on all computer workstations for city employees; and

 

WHEREAS, Microsoft agreed to allow the City of Jonesboro to upgrade in lieu of penalties as long as the agreement is signed prior to the close of their fiscal year of June 30.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro that:

 

1. The 2017 General Fund Budget is hereby amended to provide for an increase in the amount of $127,686 to upgrade all 2016 Microsoft Office Standard license to 2016 Microsoft Professional license. The money for said increase will come from monies in reserves.

 

2. This ordinance being necessary to comply with Microsoft’s terms of agreement to avoid further cost, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
