A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF AN AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (AIP) PROJECT NO. 3-05-0033-021-2016 FROM THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA)

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro City Council understands the importance of aviation plays in the local economy and industrial expansion efforts; and
WHEREAS, through the Jonesboro Municipal Airport Commission (Designated Sponsor) the City of Jonesboro has been awarded grant funding by the FAA in the amount of $369,457 representing 95% of the total Project cost of $388,902; and
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Municipal Airport Commission is providing a local match through its Airport General Funds of $19,455 representing 5% of the total project cost; and
WHEREAS, the award will support the efforts to update the Jonesboro Municipal Airport Master Plan (dated January 1999) through identification and monitoring land uses surrounding the airport; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, as the governing body of the Designated Sponsor, must accept the said grant agreement before September 13, 2016, in order to execute said agreement with the FAA.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro will enter into agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration to accept the AIP Project No. 3-05-0033-021-2016 in amount of $388,902.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.
