AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO AMEND THE 2016 ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY FOR THE OPERATIONAL CONTINUITY OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 15:069 adopted the 2016 Budget; and

WHEREAS, the Police Department is needing to add a Police Sergeant position to cover the expanding role of the High Tech (computer crimes) Unit; and

WHEREAS, the 2016 Police Department Budget will need to be increased in the amount of $2,476 in order to effectuate the increased position of Sergeant.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

SECTION 1: The sum of $2,476 be added to the Police Department's Budget for salaries, said sum coming from the unappropriated funds in the General Fund.

SECTION 2: This ordinance being necessary for the operational continuity of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
