Title

A RESOLUTION TO SUBMIT FOR THE CONTINUUM OF CARE PROGRAM THROUGH U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEPARTMENT FOR THE RAPID RE-HOUSING OF THE HOMELESSNESS

Body

WHEREAS, the application process is now open and accepting proposals for the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the Continuum of Care program for FY2016, and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is proposing to provide permanent housing for individuals and families that have become homeless and attempt to minimize the effects of homelessness on those individuals and in addition, this project would also provide workforce training, educational classes and any related healthcare needs required for those individuals, and

 

WHEREAS, the Continuum of Care Program will provide 75% of federal-aid for the overall project through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, thus it would require a 25% local match via cash and in-kind contributions from the applicant and its partners, and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is requesting funds of $3,776,725 in the application of which $3,005,380 would be federal funds and $771,345 of local match for permanent shelter, utilities, food, workforce training, educational classes, day treatment for health concerns and administrative costs of said project.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

 

SECTION 1: The City Council supports the submission of the application for the FY2016 Continuum of Care Program grant for the rapid re-housing and services provided for our homeless in the Jonesboro Metro Area.

 

SECTION 2: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to sign all necessary documents for the submission of the said grant application.
