AN ORDINANCE TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AUTHORIZING THE OFFER AND ACCEPTANCE TO PURCHASE PROPERTY ON HWY 1 SOUTH AND TO AMEND THE 2016 BUDGET FOR THE AMOUNT FOR THE PURCHASE

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro desires to purchase the A part of the Northeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter and part of the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter, all in Section 17, Township 13 North, Range 4 East, more particularly described as follows: Commencing at the point of intersection of the Easterly right of way of Arkansas Highway 1 with the Northerly right of way of Lawson Road in the Northeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Said section 17, thence N36°12'22"E 62.67 feet along the right of way of said Highway 1 to a point, thence N24°31'E 251.59 feet along the right of way of said Highway 1 to a point, the point of beginning, thence N24°31'E 83.10 feet to a point, thence S35°03'40"E 42.02 feet to a point, thence S54°53'36"W 71.66 feet to the point of beginning being 1,503 square feet more or less.
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro desires to acquired said property in order to place a “Welcome to Jonesboro” sign; and
WHEREAS, the cost for the purchase of said property is $10,000.00 plus normal closing costs; and
WHEREAS, the funding for the purchase of the property shall come from the Capital Improvement budget.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
Section 1: The City of Jonesboro is hereby authorized to execute an Offer and Acceptance to purchase the following described property:
