AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUDGET AND APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A JOHN DEERE EXCAVATOR WITH MOWER ATTACHMENT FOR THE STREET DEPARTMENT, APPROPRIATING FUNDS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro passed the 2016 Budget in Ordinance Number 15:069, which will need to be amended in order to effectuate said increase for the new excavator in the street department, the budgeted amount will need to increase $346,956; and

 

WHEREAS, the city is in need of an additional excavator with mower attachment for the street department to aide in ditch cleaning; and

 

WHEREAS, there is an urgent need to secure a new excavator to continue regular work at street department locations and help with flooding issues; and

 

WHEREAS, prices for the purchase of a new excavator are located on NJPA cooperative contract at the cost of $346,956, including mower attachment from John Deere.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

 

SECTION 1: The Mayor is hereby authorized to purchase said excavator with mower attachment.

 

SECTION 2: There is hereby appropriated the sum of $346,956 from the unappropriated balance in the street fund for the purchase of the excavator with mower attachment.

 

SECTION 3: The City Council further finds and declares that an emergency exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
