AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 2.55 OF THE JONESBORO CODE OF ORDINANCES FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW WARD BOUNDARIES BASED ON 2020 CENSUS INFORMATION AND UTILIZATION OF EFS GEOTECHNOLOGIES GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS SOFTWARE.

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro City Council adopted resolution file number RES 21-210 on October 4, 2021, authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to utilize the assistance of GIS computer software and services provided by EFS Geotechnologies for the establishment of new ward boundaries; and

WHEREAS, criteria was submitted based on data from the 2020 census; and

WHEREAS, based upon the most recent census survey, adjustments are recommended to stay in compliance with representation requirements regulated by the 14^th Amendment; and

WHEREAS, for ease of public knowledge attached are present and proposed ward boundaries along with corresponding census track GeoID data.

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to adopt the attached proposed ward boundaries and the census track GeoID data as if set out word for word within this ordinance.

BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

SECTION 1: That Section 2.55 of the City of Jonesboro Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to reflect new ward boundaries in the submitted maps as if spelled out word for word herein and the detailed in census track GeoID data attached hereto.
