A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO AMEND THE 2021 BUDGET, ESTABLISH AN EQUIPMENT DEPRECIATION FUND AND AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF AUTOS FOR CERTAIN DEPARTMENTS

WHEREAS, RES-20:244 adopted the 2021 budget for City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, analysis of 2022 budget requests have determined that $1,688,000 in fleet auto purchases, detailed on the attached schedule, have been submitted for budget consideration to replace aging fleet; and
WHEREAS, 2021 Operation and Maintenance expenditures through September 30, 2021 continue to show a favorable variance when comparing to the approved 2021 budget; and
WHEREAS, considering it is unknown if a nationwide shortage of vehicle inventory will be ongoing and inventory availability is uncertain for both in state and out of state inventories; and
WHEREAS, establishment of a $1,688,000 Equipment Depreciation Fund will allow for auto purchases to be accounted for in 2021; and
WHEREAS, certain departments desire to purchase autos consistent with the detail provided; and
WHEREAS, the purchases will be made through State Bid contracts; and
WHEREAS, the 2021 budget for certain departments will need to be amended the total of $1,688,000, per the attached schedule.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
Section 1: The City of Jonesboro 2021 Budget is amended for a total of $1,688,000, per the attached schedule.
Section 2: An Equipment Depreciation fund is established for a total of $1,688,000 to facilitate the purchase of autos, per the attached schedule.
Section 3: The purchase of autos from State Bid dealers is authorized, per the attached schedule.
