AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE A CONTRACT WITH ARKANSAS Blue Cross Blue Shield TO PROVIDE MEDICAL INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR CITY EMPLOYEES FOR 2022

body

WHEREAS, the City has negotiated a favorable rate for insurance coverage for January 1 through December 31, 2022, that it would not be feasible or practical to require bids.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

SECTION 1: That the City of Jonesboro shall enter into a contract for insurance coverage with Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield with single coverage rate of $518.78 per month and $1,114.54 for family. These renewal rates result in a 3.5% increase in monthly contributions.

SECTION 2: Due to the need to maintain adequate coverage for city employees at an advantageous rate, competitive bidding would neither be feasible nor practical. As such, pursuant to the provisions of ACA 14-58-303 and ACA 14-538-304, competitive bidding is hereby waived.

SECTION 3: That Mayor Harold Copenhaver and City Clerk April Leggett are hereby authorized to execute such documents as are necessary to effectuate the contract.

PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 16TH DAY OF NOVEMBER 2021.
