A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO ACCEPT THE APPORTIONMENT AND TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE U.S DEPARTMENT OF TREASURY FOR THE EXECUTION OF THE 2021 AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FUNDS FOR CITIES AND TOWNS

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas was allocated the 2021 American Rescue Plan Funds for Cities and Towns in the amount of $7,789,521.50 in federal funds with no local match; and,
WHEREAS, these funds shall be used for preventing, responding to, and mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in Jonesboro, AR; and,
WHEREAS , the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, as an entitlement city, is a direct recipient of this emergency COVID-19 funding and will provide timely status reports of funding expenditures to the Treasury as requested.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
Section 1: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas will enter into an agreement with the United States Department of Treasury for the 2021 American Rescue Plan Funds for Towns and Cities for $7,789,521.50 in federal funds for activities that prevent, respond to, and mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on the citizens of Jonesboro, AR.
Section 2: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.
