A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO GRANTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO APPLY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE--BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE (BJA) FOR THE FY21 BULLET PROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP GRANT

WHEREAS, applications are now being accepted for the FY21 Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant; and
WHEREAS, the FY21 Bulletproof Vest Grant requires a local match of 50% for every dollar of federal funding; and
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Police Department is seeking funding for $69,244.30 to purchase 45 NIJ compliant armored vests and 5 NIJ compliant SWAT vests of which $34,622.15 is grant funds and $34,622.15 is local match.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas supports the submission of the FY2021 Bulletproof Vest Grant to the Department of Justice--Bureau of Justice Assistance for $69,244.30.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this application.
SECTION 3: The Grants and Community Development Department is hereby authorized to submit all necessary documents for this federal grant.
