A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO GRANTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION WITH THE FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION (FTA) FOR THE FY18 COMPETITIVE FUNDING GRANT FOR BUSES AND BUS FACILITY PROGRAM

WHEREAS, applications are now being accepted for the FY18 Buses and Bus Facility program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro understands that the FY18 Buses and Bus Facility program grant is available at 80% federal match from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and 20% local match required to expand the JET system fleet and infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is applying for a federal share of $140,663 with a local match of $28,132.60, for a total award amount of $168,795; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro understands that Federal-aid funds are available for this project on a reimbursable basis, requiring work to be accomplished and proof of payment prior to actual monetary reimbursement; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is seeking funding for two new paratransit vehicles and a fixed route bus.
Now therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:
SECTION 1: The Jonesboro City Council supports the submission of the FTA FY18 Buses and Bus Facility program.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the application for federal assistance.
SECTION 3: The Grants and Community Development Department is hereby authorized to submit all necessary documents for this federal program.
