RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO APPLY FOR THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FY21 LOW-NO EMISSIONS GRANT

WHEREAS, applications are now being accepted for the FY21 Low-No Emissions grant; and
Whereas, the Low-No Emissions grant will cover the cost of electrically powered buses and charging stations; and
Whereas, the Grants and Community Development Department has prepared an application on behalf of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas seeking funding of $3,644,848 for the purchase of four (4) electric buses and two (2) charging stations; and
WHEREAS, this funding will cover the cost of converting two JETS routes to fully electric with a federal share of $3,110,211 and a local match of $534,637.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas supports the submission of the application to the FY21 Low-No Emissions grant for four electric buses and two charging stations.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this application.
SECTION 3: The Grants and Community Development Department is hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to submit all necessary documents for this federal program.
