A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE BALLOT LANGUAGE FOR ELECTING OF THE POSITION ONE COUNCIL MEMBERS

WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Jonesboro passed Ordinance 20-027 on March 16, 2021 which called for an election to be held during the primary election on May 24, 2022; and
WHEREAS, this ordinance called for the citizens to be allowed to vote on whether the Position One Council Member should be elected by only the residents of the ward they are to serve; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to approve the ballot language for that election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, THAT THE FOLLOWING LANGUAGE BE USED ON THE BALLOT FOR THE CHANGE OF THE ELECTION OF THE WARD ONE COUNCIL MEMBER POSITIONS:
Section 1: The Ballot Title shall read:
ELECTION OF CITY OF JONESBORO POSITION ONE COUNCIL MEMBERS BY ONLY THE RESIDENTS OF THE WARD THEY SERVE BEGINNING AT THE NEXT REGULAR ELECTION FOR THAT SEAT
Section 2: The Ballot Language shall read as follows:
FOR THE ELECTION OF THE POSITION ONE COUNCIL MEMBER BY ONLY THE RESIDENTS OF THE WARD IN WHICH THEY SERVE.
AGAINST THE ELECTION OF THE POSITION ONE COUNCIL MEMBER BY ONLY THE RESIDENTS OF THE WARD IN WHICH THEY SERVE.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 6TH DAY OF APRIL, 2021.
