A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND ARKANSAS DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION AND ACCEPT THE PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD GRANT AND AMEND THE 2020 BUDGET

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas was awarded the Project Safe Neighborhood Grant in the amount of $90,326; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas will accept the grant in the amount of $90,326 with no local match, as well as all accounting and reporting responsibilities for said grant; and
WHEREAS, the Project Safe Neighborhood Grant award may be used hire, purchase equipment and train an investigator for the Organized Criminal Activity Task Force; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed the 2020 Budget in Resolution RES-19:201, which will need to be amended in order to reflect the award amount; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas will enter into agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice and Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration to accept the Project Safe Neighborhood Grant for $90,326 to hire, purchase equipment and train an investigator for the Organized Criminal Activity Task Force.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this application.
SECTION 3: The 2020 Budget is hereby amended to provide a change in the in the Federal Funds budget for the Project Safe Neighborhood.
