RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND ACCEPT THE FY2018 FIRE PREVENTION AND SAFETY GRANT

WHEREAS, the FY 2018 Fire Prevention and Safety grant (FP&S) grant award is to purchase smoke detectors and fire safety coloring books and materials for 255 homes; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, was awarded the FY2018 FP&S grant in the amount of $9,133.33 with a local match requirement of $456.67 for a total of $9,590.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Fire Department will install the 255 smoke detectors free of charge to residents within the city limits and provide fire safety materials to elementary schools and community outreach programs.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro will enter into an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security to accept the FY2018 FP&S grant for $9,590.00.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the award.
