AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 2343, CHAPTER 5.12 OF THE JONESBORO CODE OF ORDINANCES, TO INCREASE THE TAX LEVY FOR MOSQUITO CONTROL TO TWO DOLLARS MONTHLY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of the City of Jonesboro that additional funds need to be allocated in order to control the mosquito population within the City of Jonesboro, and;
 
WHEREAS, based upon this need the Jonesboro City Council has voted to refer this issue to the public for a vote in the General Election on November 8, 1994.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
 
At the General Election on November 8, 1994, the voters will be asked to vote on the following question which shall constitute the ballot title:
 
FOR Ordinance # 2577, an ordinance increasing the tax levy for mosquito control to two dollars monthly.
 
OR
 
AGAINST Ordinance # 2577, an ordinance increasing the tax levy for mosquito control to two dollars monthly.
 
SECTION 1: The City Clerk is hereby directed to deliver a copy of this Ordinance to the Craighead County Election Commission and otherwise cooperate with the Election Commission for the purpose of conducting the election scheduled above.
 
SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and if any part of this Ordinance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the validity of any portion of the Ordinance.
 
SECTION 3: It is hereby found that because of the community need to correct and control the mosquito problem, and otherwise preserve the public peace, health and safety, and emergency is declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
 
PASSED AND APPROVED this 9th day of September, 1994.
