RESOLUTION TO PROCEED WITH CONDEMNATION ACTION ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT 2217 RACE STREET AND 301 MCDANIEL STREET

WHEREAS, it has been found to be unlawful for any person or persons to keep or maintain any house, building and/or structure within the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas which constitutes a nuisance and which is found and declared to be a nuisance; and

 

WHEREAS, the following properties have been found and declared to be a nuisance within the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the following properties are hereby condemned:

 

(1)                     A house located at 2217 Race Street in Jonesboro, Arkansas - owner is Robert Rees:

 

The house was damaged by fire on February 3, 1989, and the following needs replace/repair bathroom floor and ceiling, hall floor and ceiling, bedroom floor, floor joist, door and windows.

 

The house is an attractive nuisance for children. Damage to the property provides harborage for rats, mosquitoes and animals. It also constitutes a menace to the public health, safety and welfare.

 

(1)  A house located at 301 McDaniel Street, on the corner of McDaniel and Creath, Jonesboro, Arkansas - owner is Pearlie and Sharon D. Thomas:

 

Items in need of repair are windows, doors, siding, roof, interior walls and ceilings.

 

House will have to be completely rewired to meet city codes. It will also need to be completely re-plumbed to meet city codes.

 

The house is an attractive nuisance for children. It also provides harborage for rats and animals, constituting a menace to the public health, safety and welfare.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 19th day of June, 1988.
