RESOLUTION TO PROPOSE HOW TO USE THE REVENUE FROM THE ONE CENT SALES TAX

body

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has gone on record endorsing Craighead County’s one cent sales tax, and

WHEREAS, since it has been estimated a one cent sales tax will produce $3,180,000 per year, and

WHEREAS, the plan adopted by the council and quorum court provides for the first 55% of tax collected in the next two years to go to establish an approved system of solid waste disposal.

Now be it resolved that the Jonesboro City Council proposes to use its share of the remaining 45% to help balance the budget and eliminate our deficit.  Any remaining monies could be used to offset the additional cost in our workman’s compensation insurance.
