RESOLUTION TO CONTRIBUTE MONEY TO THE CITY TRANSIT COMMISSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBSIDIZING THE OPERATION OF CITY BUS LINES, INC.

WHEREAS, the City Transit Commission of the City of Jonesboro has been given authority by the City Council to regulate rates, routes, and fares in connection with buses or bus lines operating within the City limits of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, the City Bus Lines, Inc. is presently owned primarily by Mrs. Corinne C. Collins and operating city buses in the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the operations for the lines for the year 1965 through September of 1966, shows that the bus line is operating on a very narrow margin and it further appearing that another bus line is operating within the City for the purpose of transporting school children to and from the school; and
WHEREAS, it appears that the City Bus Lines, Inc. will not be able to continue its operation servicing the downtown business area unless some financial assistance is given to the bus line; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that there is a need for a bus service in the downtown area of Jonesboro and that the City of Jonesboro should contribute the sum of $250.00 per month to the City Transit Commission beginning with November 1, 1966, and not to exceed a period of six months for the purpose of subsidizing the City Bus Lines, Inc. in their operation of a bus line to service the downtown Jonesboro, area.
IT IS, THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro that the City of Jonesboro shall contribute the sum of $250.00 per month beginning with November 1, 1966, and not to exceed a period of six months to the City Transit Commission for the purpose of subsidizing the operation of City Bus Lines, Inc.
