AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 24-4 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, PROVIDING FOR THE ZONING OF ANNEXED AREAS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is hereby amended to read as follows:

 

Section 1: Any person, firm, corporation, partnership, or association desiring to annex land to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, after the passage and approval of this Ordinance, must appear before the City Planning Commission, at a regularly scheduled meeting and request a zoning classification for the proposed land seeking to be annexed to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

 

Section 2: The aforementioned request shall be in writing and shall state factual reasons why the requested zoning classification is desired; said request shall be accompanied by a plat of the proposed territory seeking to be annexed.

 

Section 3: The City Planning Commission shall make a thorough study of the request and shall vote whether or not said request will be approved, at the next regularly scheduled meeting after the request is submitted to the City Planning Commission. A request shall be approved if a majority of the appointed members vote in favor of the requested zoning classification.

 

Section 4: All ordinances and or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed; Section 24-4 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas is hereby specifically repealed.

 

Section 5: This Ordinance adopts by reference all applicable zoning ordinances and statutes now in effect and those which will herein after become effective.

 

Section 6: This Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
