AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE BIDDING REQUIREMENTS  FOR PURCHASE OF THREE  POSITIVE AIR BREATHING APPARATUSES AND SIX LIGHT ALUMINUM AIR BOTTLES.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

SECTION 1:  The City Council finds and declares that there is a need to purchase three positive air breathing apparatuses and six light aluminum air bottles for the use by the Fire Department immediately.

SECTION 2:  Said positive air breathing apparatuses and light aluminum air bottles may be purchased from Fire Service Supply, Rogers, Arkansas, for the sum of $4,614.75.  The City Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to purchase the above items.

SECTON 3:  The City Council finds and declares that the immediate purchase of the above described item is necessary for the health and welfare of the citizens of Jonesboro and the firefighters of the Jonesboro Fire Department.  Therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and the City Council hereby waives the usual bidding requirements and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
