The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark., met in regular session in City Hall, Monday night, January 22, 1968, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Turner, Bennett, Ledbetter, Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Pardew, Copeland, Young, Johnson and Knight.

Mr. Copeland made the motion, seconded by Mr. Pardew that a telegram be sent to TTA protesting the new proposed flight schedule. On calling the roll, all voted aye and the motion carried.

After bids were opened and salesmen from Choctaw, Hawkins and Scruggs were heard, Mr. Minx moved with Mr. Darling seconding the motion that the City purchases from Hawkins Equipment Company the following:

(5) 24-yard Pak-Mors
(1) 20-yard collection unit
(1) limb chipper, 4-1/2 x 12
(1) container lift and 20 containers, 2 yard capacity

$4,000 trade-in allowed on three old 16-yard and one 20-yard Pak-Mor, making a total cost to the City of $37,880.00. Roll was called and all members voted aye. Motion carried.

After the bids were opened on five new trucks, Mr. Young moved with Mr. Darling seconding the motion that the City purchases the Dodge trucks at a cost of $4,538.94 each. On calling the roll, all voted aye and the motion carried.

Mr. Pierce moved with Mr. Johnson seconding the motion that in case the Dodge trucks do not meet the required 140 inch minimum from cab to axle, the alternate bid be given to Ford. On calling the roll, voting aye: Pierce, Turner, Minx and Knight. Stricklin passed. Voting nay: Bennett, Ledbetter, Darling, Pardew, Copeland, Young and Johnson. Motion failed. Mr. Young then moved that International be given the alternate bid and Mr. Turner seconded the motion. On calling the roll, voting aye: Turner, Bennett, Ledbetter, Darling and Young. Voting nay: Pierce, Stricklin, Minx, Pardew, Copeland, Johnson and Knight. Motion failed.
