RESOLUTION TO ABANDON AN ALLEY EXTENDING FROM MAIN STREET TO CHURCH STREET AS REQUESTED BY ROLAND & MARIAN HUGHES AND WALTER & LOIS GRUNDON

WHEREAS, Roland Hughes, Marian Hughes, Walter Grundon and Lois F. Grundon have requested that the City of Jonesboro join with them in the closing and abandonment of an alleyway 20’ in width, extending from Main Street on the West to Church Street on the East, bounded by the South 75’ of Lot 36 of Knight’s 2nd Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas on the North, which property is owned by Roland Hughes and Marian Hughes, and by Lot 1 of Nilson’s Subdivision of Knight’s 2nd Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, on the South, which property is owned by Walter Grundon and Lois F. Grundon, under the authority of Ark Stat Annotated Sec 19-3817, and
WHEREAS, it appears that such alley or passageway is not needed for street or highway purposes, and that the welfare of the city will be enhanced and promoted by the closing and abandoning of said alley or passageway.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
(1) That it is hereby found and determined that the alley or passageway described above is not needed for street or highway purposes and that the welfare of the City will be enhanced and promoted by the closing and abandoning of said alley or passageway.
(2) That the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute jointly with the said Roland Hughes, Marian M. Hughes, Walter Grundon and Lois F. Grundon, who are all of the owners of real estate adjoining the said alley or passageway, in closing and abandoning said alley or passageway under the authority of Ark Stats Annotated Sec 19-3817.
