AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.1638 AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: That Section 1 of Ordinance No.1638 shall be amended by adding sub-section (e):

(e) Private individuals, firms, or corporations within the City who have private parking facilities who desire to designate certain areas for handicapped parking the Chief of Police of someone designated by him shall inspect said space to insure that it complies with state regulations pertaining to handicapped parking spaces. Once the Chief or Police certifies that it meets state standards an the space is marked as a handicapped space it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to park any type vehicle in said space unless the said vehicle exhibits a special decal which has been issued by the State of Arkansas under statutes 75-266.19 - 75.266.29. Any person, firm or corporation which violates this section shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $100.00.

 

Section 2: The following paragraph shall be added to Section One (1) after sub-section (e):

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to remove or conceal any markings used by the City of Jonesboro which are placed upon the tires of vehicles parked on said City parking lots and streets to determine the length of time said vehicle has been parked. Any person, firm, or corporation which violates this section of Ordinance No.1638 shall be punished by a fine of Five Dollars ($5.00) per each violation.
