A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO FOR THE RENAMING OF THE COMMUNITY ROOM INSIDE THE E BOONE WATSON COMMUNITY CENTER IN HONOR OF CAROLYN SHEPPARD

WHEREAS, Resolution 05:402 adopted guidelines for naming public parks, streets and facilities within the City of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, Carolyn Sheppard is a lifelong resident of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, Carolyn Sheppard served on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for many years, during which time she helped to improve quality of place for the residents of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, Carolyn Sheppard served on a committee that secured the funding to build the current E Boone Watson Community Center in 2004; and
WHEREAS, Carolyn Sheppard was recognized last year as a living legend in Jonesboro by Arkansas State University; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, would like to properly honor and recognize the contributions and volunteerism of Ms. Carolyn Sheppard.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Jonesboro City Council, of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:
Section 1: The Community Room in the E Boone Watson Community Center will be named “The Carolyn Sheppard Community Room”.
Section 2: Appropriate signage will be placed in the center to commemorate this honor.
