AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 2-17 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, CHANGING THE OFFICE HOURS OF THE CITY CLERK

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that section 2-17 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1: The City Clerk and Ex-officio Municipal Court Clerk shall keep his or her office open to the public for the transaction of business from 8:30 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. on weekdays. The office of the City Clerk and Ex-officio Municipal Court Clerk shall be a full time duty, and neglect of that duty shall constitute cause for removal from office.
Section 2: That the provision requiring the City Clerk and Ex-officio Municipal Court Clerk to keep his/her office open from 8:30 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Saturdays is hereby repealed.
Section 3: All Ordinances and/or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4: It is found and declared by the City Council being necessary for the efficient operation of the City Clerk’s Office for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
