RESOLUTION TO REQUEST THE ARKANSAS PLANNING COMMISSION MAKE APPLICATION FOR A FEDERAL PLANNING ASSISTANCE GRANT TO UNDERTAKE A COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, recognizes the need to insure the continued proper and orderly growth of the area, and
WHEREAS, comprehensive planning is recognized as being of primary importance to the future growth and development of the area, and
WHEREAS, the Arkansas Planning Commission, as the State agency responsible for the administration of Federal Urban planning Assistance Program, can provide planning services with assistance of Federal Planning Assistance grants provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, hereby requests that the Arkansas Planning Commission make application for a Federal planning assistance grant and provide planning services for the following planning program:
The undertaking of a comprehensive planning program for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, leading to the preparation of base maps, basic studies, major elements of a comprehensive development plan, and plan implementation, such as zoning ordinance, subdivision regulation, and a capital improvement program for the planning area.
SECTION 2: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, in the event the Arkansas Planning Commission’s application for a Federal Planning Assistance Grant is approved, will make available upon the request of the Arkansas Planning Commission a sum not to exceed to aid in defraying a portion of the cost of providing planning services for the above stated planning program.
