ORDINANCE TO WAIVE BIDS FOR TWO (2) DEMO-FIRE TRUCKS AND TO APPROPRIATE $360,000 ($180,000 EACH) WITH $345,000.00 TO COME FROM THE FIRE TRUCK FUND AND THE BALANCE ($15,000) TO COME FROM UNAPPROPRIATED SALES TAX FUND. IN ADDITION $28,017 APPROPRIATED FROM UNAPPROPRIATED SALES TAX FUND FOR ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That the City of Jonesboro Fire Department of the City of Jonesboro needs to purchase the above mentioned equipment
SECTION 2: That said services can be obtained for $360,000 ($180,000 each) with $345,000.00 to come from the fire truck fund and the balance ($15,000) to come from unappropriated sales tax fund, with an additional $28,017 from unappropriated sales tax for equipment for the fire trucks.
SECTION 3: That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described services for the price set forth in Section 2 above.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire the above vehicle, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
