AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 14, THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, ESTABLISHING STANDARDS FOR THE LOCATION, DEVELOPMENT, CONSTRUCTION, AND MAINTENANCE OF ON-PREMISE AND OFF -PREMISE OUTDOOR ADVERTISING SIGNS MODIFYING ORDINANCE 3447 AND SECTION 14.32.11. (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-09:088 ON NOVEMBER 17, 2009)

WHEREAS, The City of Jonesboro desires to encourage the orderly development of On & Off-Premise Outdoor Advertising Signs for the benefit of its citizens, and
WHEREAS, as a matter of public policy the City wishes to control and regulate the proliferation of On-Premise/Off-Premise Outdoor Advertising Signs, and
WHEREAS, the control and regulation of On-Premise Outdoor Advertising Signs and Off-Premise is considered necessary to protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Jonesboro, and
WHEREAS, all comments, views, suggestions and recommendations have been considered and addressed by the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission at a public hearing held June 12, 2007, and
WHEREAS, there is a need to adopt this ordinance by reference as a technical code, pursuant to ACA 14-55-207, and
WHEREAS, to provide public notice of the City’s intent, advising the public that three (3) copies were on file and available for public review in the Office of the City Clerk, appropriate notice was published.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
Section 1. Title 14, Section 14.32.11 otherwise known as Ordinance 3447 be amended and renamed as “The On-Premise/Off-Premise Outdoor Advertising Sign Ordinance and is adopted and added to the Jonesboro Code of Ordinances as Chapter 14.32.11.
Section 2. Said provisions are specifically adopted as a technical code by reference as pursuant to the provisions of ACA 14-55-207.
Section 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict.
