AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF MAINTENANCE CONTRACT FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT MOBILE DATA SYSTEM

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

SECTION 1: That the Information Systems Department of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas needs to purchase a maintenance contract for MDT terminals in the Police Department.

SECTION 2: That said services may be purchased from Aether Mobile Government Division , an only source, located in Marlborough, MA for the sum of $13,968.00 , to be paid from the Information Systems budget line item.

SECTION 3: That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A.  Section 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section 2 above.

SECTION 4: It is further found that due to immediate need to acquire this equipment an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
