AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 5-8 AND 5-9, AS AMENDED, THE SAME DEALING WITH ADOPTION OF THE BUILDING CODE FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-87:1526 ON MAY 4, 1987)

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: That Section 5.8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is hereby amended to read as follows:
There is hereby adopted by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, a certain building code known as the standard Building Code, specifically being the 1982 edition. The Standard Building Code, 1982 edition, as adopted, shall establish rules and regulations to provide minimum requirements to safeguard life, health and public welfare and the protection of property as it relates to these safeguards by regulating and controlling the design, construction, alteration, repair, equipment, use and occupancy, location, maintenance, removal and demolition of all buildings or structures and appurtenances thereto within the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas. There are not less than three copies of the Standard Building Code, 1982 edition, now on file in the office of the City Inspector of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as set out therein and shall be in full force from the date which this article shall take effect.
Section 2: That Section 5-9 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas is hereby amended to read as follows:
Appendix A through Q of the Standard Building Code 1982 edition, are specifically excluded and are not adopted by this article.
Section 3: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the above sections need to be amended to adopt the most recent edition of the Standard Building Code and therefore, this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is...
