AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 8.40.18 OF THE JONESBORO MUNICIPAL CODE ENTITLED PARKING TIME LIMITS.

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro desires to designate certain restrictions on parking provided on certain lots adjacent to City Hall and the Jonesboro Court Office and Police Building;

WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish a penalty for violation of and provide for towing of vehicles violating said restrictions;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro as follows;

SECTION 1: That the Jonesboro Municipal Code Section 8.40.18 shall be amended by changing sub-paragraph (a) (4) as follows: It should read "the parking lot located behind City Hall shall be restricted by making the numbered spaces located thereon reserved for employees only during the hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Anyone parking illegally in a numbered parking space may be ticketed for parking in a restricted zone and assessed a civil penalty of $ 25.00. Further, said vehicles may be towed at the discretion of the officer issuing the ticket. Costs of towing said vehicle shall be upon the owner thereof. All penalties assessed shall be collected pursuant to the provisions of Jonesboro Code of Ordinances '8.44.17 (e)

SECTION 2: That the provisions of 8.40.18 of the Jonesboro Code of Ordinances shall be further amended by adding Paragraph (a) (6) as follows: The parking lot adjacent to the Jonesboro Courts and Police Building founded on the North by Monroe Street and on the South by Washington shall have specified spaces indicated by signs restricting those spaces so designated as police parking only. Violators of said restricted parking shall be ticketed and upon being found guilty thereof shall pay a civil penalty of $25.00. Further, said vehicles may be towed at the discretion of the officer issuing said ticket. Cost of towing said vehicle shall be upon the owner thereof.
